Dating antique french clocks
The case is made of a lovely specimen marble, a pale salmon with a figure of oranges and silver grey. The movement is mounted between the four columns with the pendulum swinging visibly below. The pendulum is visible swinging below the movement between the cherubim pillars, pendulum is formed as a shield with lions rampant. The figure is ~ French - Circa 1870 ~ ~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~ A large, imposing and heavy original antique French gilt-bronze clock.
The dial is also gilt bronze, mounted with 12 individual porcelain enamel cartouches. To the base are a pair of exquisitely painted porcelain panels also featuring cherubs. It is finely modelled in ormolu (finely gilded bronze), beautifully finished and in stunning condition.
